D.R. Horton, Inc. (D.R. Horton) is a homebuilding company in the United States. The Company constructs and sells homes through its operating divisions in 26 states and 72 metropolitan markets of the United States, primarily under the name of D.R. Horton, Americas Builder. The Companys homes range in size from 1000 to 4000 square feet. During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2010 (fiscal 2010), D.R. Horton closed 20,875 homes. The Companys segments consist of six homebuilding segments and a financial services segment. Its homebuilding operations comprised approximately 98% of consolidated revenues. Its homebuilding operations generate most of their revenues from the sale of completed homes, with a lesser amount from the sale of land and lots. In addition to building traditional single-family detached homes, D.R. Horton also builds attached homes, such as town homes, duplexes, triplexes and condominiums (including some mid-rise buildings), which share common walls and roofs.
